Connecting Slack

Connect Slack to Symbi for real-time review notifications, daily digests, and direct interaction with your agents.

Connect via OAuth

Symbi uses standard OAuth 2.0 to connect to your Slack workspace. No API keys or manual configuration required.

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Find Slack and click Connect Slack
  3. You'll be redirected to Slack's authorization page
  4. Review the permissions and click Allow
  5. The Symbi bot is added to your workspace and the connection is confirmed

Symbi requests only the permissions it needs — messaging, reactions, and slash commands. No access to private channels or direct messages unless you explicitly invite the bot.

Selecting Channels

After authorizing, Symbi takes you to a Review discovered resources page listing every Slack channel the bot has been added to. Check the channels you want your agents to be able to bind to and click Register selected. Only registered channels can be used by agents for notifications or HITL review messages.

You can skip this step and add or remove channels later from Settings → Connectors → Slack.

Tip

Invite the Symbi bot to a channel in Slack first, then return to the discovery page to register it. Channels the bot is not a member of are not discoverable.

Review Notifications

When an agent proposes an action and review mode is enabled, Symbi sends an interactive Block Kit message to your configured Slack channel. Each message includes:

  • A summary of the proposed action
  • The original ticket, email, or request context
  • Approve as-is, Edit & approve, Override…, and Decline buttons

Click a button to take action directly from Slack — no need to switch to the web app. Edit & approve opens a modal where you can adjust the text before sending; Override… lets you change which actions run (for example, reply instead of changing status, or vice versa).

Daily Digest

Each morning, Symbi posts a daily digest to your configured channel summarizing the previous day's activity — tasks processed, approval rates, and items still awaiting review.

Slash Commands

Symbi registers two slash commands in your workspace:

  • /symbi-settings — quickly access agent configuration and integration settings
  • /symbi-hire — start a hire request for a new agent directly from Slack

@Symbi Mentions

Tag @Symbi in any channel where the bot has been invited to ask questions or trigger actions. The bot can give status updates on your agents and answer questions about recent activity.

Cross-Channel Sync

Reviews completed in Slack are immediately reflected in the Operation Center, and vice versa. If a teammate approves in the web app, the Slack message updates to show the new status. Your team always has a consistent view regardless of where they work.

Info

Slack is optional — you can review everything from the Operation Center. Many teams use both channels depending on their workflow preferences.
